Project update from Wessex Water
Since the start of the work on Monday 30 September, a 200-metre stretch of the B3157 (Goose Hill) has been closed to through traffic between the entrance to Manor Dairy and just past Malthouse Meadow, with an official signposted diversion in place, using the B3157, A354 (Weymouth Way), B3159 and A35 roads.
Our team have been working seven days a week to progress with the main replacement as quickly as possible and their efforts have ensured that the B3157 can now be reopened to through traffic in both directions.
The main replacement project will now continue under three-way traffic lights in place on the B3157 (Goose Hill) and Malthouse Meadow from Monday 28 October, with the scheme due to finish as originally scheduled on Friday 8 November 2024.
With the road reopening, allowing bus services to resume their regular route, the shuttle bus service travelling between Abbotsbury and Bridport (and vice versa) that was funded by Wessex Water will end.
The bus stop next to Malthouse Meadow will remain suspended. Please contact the local bus service provider for details of the temporary bus stop.
We will be removing or amending the temporary road signs placed throughout the area prior to the start of the project to reflect that the B3157 is open and will continue to liaise and work with businesses throughout the area as and when necessary.
There may be some noise disruption while this work is carried, but every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum.
Water supply services can be used as normal unless we advise otherwise.
